Red Caboose is located in Mead, Colorado, and was founded in 1990 by Leon
Fairbanks. Red Caboose manufactures highly accurate, well detailed N, HO, and
O Scale freight cars and locomotives. Located at the foot of the Rocky
Mountains in Colorful Colorado, Red Caboose has been producing the finest
scale railroad equipment since 1992. The Red Caboose product line has grown
tremendously since the first released the GP-9. Many freight cars, many HO
cars and even more N Scale cars later, the product line spans a wide range of
cars from the late 1920's to the modern era. Freight cars in everything from
the most popular road names like Pennsylvania Rail Road and Union Pacific to
obscure, regional and sometimes forgotten roads like Gulf Mobile & Ohio or
Boone Valley. But it the commitment to quality that sets Red Caboose apart
from competitors. The current staff of 17 people handle everything needed to
get freight cars to you. Most of the staff has been here since the beginning.
Every day we put that experience to work. Whether it is custom mixing paint
colors to get that exact match or re-creating letter styles that haven't been
seen on a train car for 50 years; Any Red Caboose product that you can find
has been touched by someone still working with Red Caboose.

" 100-Ton Evans Coil Car - Assembled -- Santa Fe (red) 1968 found the first 100 ton coil cars built to the fourth series specifications. These cars can be easily identified as they have the straight frame while earlier cars(series 1-3) had a slight 'fish belly' or 'drop' frame. The type 4 design was in production from 1968 through 1975. Over 2,250 cars of this design with different covers (round, angled, corrugated and fiberglass) were built during this time period for many 'fallen flag' railroads such as the CB&Q, B&O, IC, RDG and SP (over 15 railroads bought this series of car). Many of these cars can now be seen with new paint schemes on the BNSF, CSX, NS and UP. Newly merged into the NS and CSX, Conrail cars can now be found with their CR reporting marks painted out and NYC and PRR reporting marks replacing them. And will we see the IC/ICG/IC coil cars painted in CN since the old IC has now been merged? Over 20 class one, original owner railroad schemes to be offered, plus numerous post-merger names and schemes. HO Scale Coil Cars will be available as decorated and undecorated Ready To Run Cars. Cars will ship with McHenry couplers and metal wheels. RTR cars come with the hoods in place, but can be removed if the consumer pulls straight up carefully so that details can be added. "

" 4/3/1 Riveted 10'6" Box Car w/8' Door - Assembled -- Maine Central (MEC Green) By the mid 1950's the standard 40' box car was being replaced with box cars of longer length, greater capacity in both weight and interior cubic capacity. The design captured in this model represents one of the last mass-produced 40' box cars. Railroads could order the car either riveted or welded and with either 6', 8' or 9' doors. Different side panel configurations included either 10 or 12 panel and cars came with different side sill layouts. Purchasers could also specify what type of brake mechanism, brake wheel, doors and running boards they wanted applied to the car. The 1960's brought change to railroading with safety laws passed requiring car owners to remove running boards from cars and cut the height of ladders so that people could no longer climb on top of most types of freight cars. This resulted in cars with different height brake mechanisms, different height ladders and roof walks removed in different ways. "
